- You will be offered the RSG program at set intervals
- Participation is completely voluntary
- If you’re under 18, a lawyer from the Office of the Children’s Lawyer can be assigned to you!
- Mediation can be in-person or online, depending on your preference
- If you have safety concerns about being together with someone, inform the Mediator. They’ll respect your wishes and make suitable arrangements.
WHO ARE MEDIATORS?
Mediators are your behind-the-scenes allies during tough times. They ensure fairness, teamwork, and that your voice matters. You are in control – there’s no obligation to involve them. They are experts at making problem-solving easy and provide free support. The Child Protection Mediator meets individually with your CAS worker and each participant to discuss topics, explain mediation, stress confidentiality, and plan logistics.
Your CAS worker can connect you with a mediator who does not work for CAS through a “transfer Payment agency” (TPA)
- You will need to agree to using the service by signing a consent to make the referral
- Office of the Children’s Lawyer OCL notification for those under 18 years is mandatory
- The TPA will assign a Child Protection Mediator trained in Ready, Set, Go
RSG Service and items accessible:
(Basically stuff you get from age 13 to 23)
Turning 13 is a big deal, right? Well, along with marking the beginning of your teen years, there’s something else you should know about: your Action and Assessment Record (AAR) and Plan of Care. Sounds serious, huh? Don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it sounds! Think of it as a way to check in on how things are going and make sure you’re getting the support you need.
Fast forward a bit to when you’re almost 16. Yeah, we know, driving and all that excitement, but there’s something else you should be thinking about too. It’s time to review your plans, chat with the people you are helping you out, and start thinking about what you want to achieve in the long run. It’s all about setting yourself up for success!
Now, let’s talk about when you’re about to hit 18. Yep, legally an adult! But before you start celebrating too much, it’s time to take stock of how far you’ve come. Sit down with your support team, talk about what comes next after high school, whether it’s college, a job, or something else. And hey, don’t forget about those important connections with professionals and your community. They’ve got your back!
Lastly, when you’re approaching 23, it’s all about independence, baby! Review your progress, make plans for your future, and make sure you’re plugged into the support network around you. You’re getting older and wiser, but it’s always good to have a helping hand along the way.
Your input is key in shaping the direction, access,
and support level of the RSG program
